Rochester Institute of Technology is one of the world’s most well-known technical schools and exists in one of America’s premier college towns. It was at RIT that the first laboratory for social computing was founded in 2005. The college opened a campus in Dubai in 2008. Besides its many other departments, Rochester runs its Interactive Games and Multimedia (IGM) department, which is one of the largest of its kind anywhere on the globe.

Hampshire College (Amherst, MA)

Students studying video game design at Hampshire College have truly the coolest library on the globe. Yes, that’s right. Hampshire College operates a Game Lab and Game Library with access to more games than someone can genuinely play, contemporary commercial video game systems, experimental systems, (such as Oculus Rift equipped with dev kit 2), historic systems, (like Atari), and all the surround sound and lighting any gamer could ever desire.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY)

As its name suggests, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is a respected school with a huge representation in the sciences. The school’s limitless appetite for applied learning has created 33 research centers and counting. Their Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences (GSAS) program focuses on om video game-related activities and is divided into two branches. The first one put a student on the road to a BS in games and simulation arts.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Worcester, MA)

The Worcester Polytechnic Institute is ranked nationwide for its Interactive Media and Game Development, (IMGD), program. This program inspires its graduates to create unique portfolios that will be competitive in the career world through project-based learning. Students are also obliged to interact at all levels of the game design process, including content creation, programming, testing, and project management. The IMGD program provides digital whiteboard presentations, distributed virtual environments, and performance-based media.
